Blog > A New Season: Counting Blessings After a Challenging Year

There are seasons in life that challenge us, and seasons that lift us up, and sometimes those seasons are the same.

In February of this year, the fire suppression system in our building exploded during Houston’s historic freeze and flooded our offices, destroying virtually everything that was there. Fortunately, all of our data is hosted offsite, and the computers we work on are all laptops we carry with us, so the core of our business was not affected. But all of our furniture and physical supplies were demolished.

The office we’ve called home for many years was uninhabitable and will remain so for some time. We had been in the building for years, and it felt like home. We had a beautiful lake behind us and a hike-and-bike trail nearby, and we often took fishing and exercise breaks. We’ll miss it.

We were able to secure temporary offices at the Work Lodge in nearby Vintage Park. The Work Lodge is a super nice coworking space run by some great people (seriously, if you need a place to office, check out https://www.worklodge.com/). It even has a slide! The folks at Work Lodge made being temporarily displaced not just tolerable, but downright pleasant.

We spent much of our time at the Work Lodge searching for a new permanent home, and on June 1, we moved into new digs in the Chasewood Bank building at 8500 Cypresswood Drive. We got a beautiful custom build-out, and we’re ready to rock and roll.

This upheaval could have been catastrophic, especially coming on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we’ve been blessed with a continuous flow of business, and we haven’t missed a beat. We know we’re more than lucky. So many businesses have been ended by this plague. We owe a lot to our loyal and supportive clients. \

As we settle in and put this roller-coaster ride behind us, we’d like to extend a warm invitation to you to stop by and visit in person. Come tell us about your plans, your ideas, your digital needs and what you’re doing to leverage the opportunities buried in this crisis. As you’re probably well aware, we’re famous for having the best coffee of any custom software company on the planet. (With a name like Espresso Moon, we’d pretty much have to, right?)

Of course, you may be digging out from under a mess caused by this season of turmoil yourself. We’re here to help you in any way we can, so please feel free to reach out.
